Waste Processing

Waste processing essentially refers to the entire course of action for trash collection, transport, sorting, treatment and final disposal.  It entails all forms or "streams" of waste including metals, wood, plastics, paper, glass and even electronics, as well as household hazardous waste. Specific to the Municipal Group of Companies is the Otter Lake Waste Processing and Disposal Facility located off exit 3 of Nova Scotia Highway 103. This 190-acre site is managed and operated by Mirror NS on behalf of the Halifax Regional Municipality in accordance with HRM's Integrated Waste/Resource Management Strategy (IWRMS).
